CRANKIN'POWER®
PRIMARY WIRE
GPT Type, Automotive Primary Wire using pure copper. Stranded wire construction is
more durable than any solid hook-up wire construction; using many small strands
produces a more flexible and durable wire.
Note that 12 gauge wire is much heavier
than 16 gauge. The 12 gauge primary wire employs 65 strands of 30 awg*., pure copper
wires. The 16 gauge employs 29 strands of 30 awg., pure copper wires. 12 gauge wire has an
outside diameter of .147" and 16 gauge is .100" O.D.

A very popular wire for use connecting automotive
equipment; the smaller size results in a smaller cost and 18 gauge is plenty heavy for
many kinds of automotive equipment, including some sound systems. (When in doubt,
consult with your equipment installer to be sure that you are using a wire that is capable
of handling the power.) 18 Gauge Primary wire is somewhat smaller than 16 gauge.
Available in many colors.
* note: awg. is commonly used as shorthand for American Wire Gauge.
Be sure to see Crankin'Power gold connectors for pure, power handling connections.
